About Beth

Beth Sorensen Agnew has an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and a B.S. in Psychology from Washington State University. She has been working with children, teens, couples and families in many different capacities since 2002. Beth is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

She built the foundation of her training at the Bill Wilson Center, in Santa Clara. At the Bill Wilson Center, Beth ran groups for at-risk teens while also working with adult clients and families in the outpatient clinic. Part of Beth's multi-faceted training also came from working as a Professional Foster Care Social Worker with FamiliesFirstInc., providing family and youth support within the context of foster care and social services. Beth was the Director of the Helping Hands program at Family Violence Counseling Associates. This experience included individual therapy for child witnesses of family violence and counseling for women affected by domestic violence. Beth also served an Intake Coordinator for Our Common Ground, Inc., a dual-diagnosis treatment program for at-risk youth. Most recently, Beth has worked as an Adjunct Lecturer at Santa Clara University in the M.A. Counseling Psychology Department focusing on group therapy.

Beth completed her California Marriage and Family Therapy License in 2007 and her Professional Clinical Counselor License in 2013. Beth completed the JFKU Eating Disorders Certificate Program in 2012 and continues to expand her knowledge in the field of eating disorders, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and trauma recovery by attending on-going educational conferences and trainings.

Beth is also an active volunteer with The Coming Home Project for veterans, service members, and their families.
